On Wednesday, May 10, 2023, the University of Zakho commemorated the second anniversary of the passing of Dr. Ahmed Y. Jamil, a faculty member at the university, in recognition of his scientific contributions.

The ceremony was attended by the President of the University of Zakho, Dr. Nadhim S. Abdulaziz, the dean of the Faculty of Science, faculty members, and the family of the late professor. The event featured speeches honoring his academic journey and a film showcasing his life and efforts in advancing science and serving the community.

On the sidelines of the event, the Head of the Biology Department, Dr. Ahmed Bashir, and the former department coordinator, Dr. Sufyan Haji, were honored. Additionally, congratulations were extended to Dr. Hamid S. Kachel on his appointment as the new department head. A group of outstanding researchers from the department, recognized for their active contributions and excellence in publishing scientific research, were also honored.
